HOCKEY NOTES: Pee Wee Wildcats win gold

The Sault Pee Wee Wildcats, a local girls rep team, turned in a golden performance in Stratford on the weekend.

Facing a hometown Stratford team in the tournament championship, the Wildcats received goals from Brianne Veale, Samantha Fielk and Morgan Tersigni for a 3-0 win. Kelsey Bentrovato recorded the shutout in net for the Wildcats, her third of the tournament.

In earlier action, the Wildcats blanked Woodstock 2-0 on goals by Tersigni and Courtney Charette. Veale scored three goals and Shannon MacInnes added another in a 4-1 win over Mitchell. In a 4-0 win over Stratford, Mallory Lesage scored twice while Jasmine Roy and Fielk scored one each.

*** ATOM AA CHAMPS:

The Great Lakes Bus/Hess Jewellers Atom AA Reps scored a championship at the 36th Annual Streetsville Tigers Tournament in Mississauga on the weekend.

The Reps claimed the championship with a 4-1 win over the Vaughan Panthers in the final. Kurtis Barbarie, Davis Boyer, Josh July and Brendan Kane scored the Reps while Stormer Santana recorded the win in goal.

The Reps advanced to the championship with a 5-1 win over the Toronto Royals in the semi-finals. Alec D'Orazio, Chad Thibodeau, July and Brandon Hayes scored for the winners. Joshua Fritz was victorious in net for the Reps.
