Sault product Mark Hoffman, who spent last season with the Soo Thunderbirds is one of 22 players being awarded a bursary by the Ontario Hockey Federation.
Started in 1997, the OHF Bursary Program distributes money to recognize and reward dedication in education and hockey. The money distributed is used to help offset the costs of post-secondary schooling for players. Since the program started, more than $129,000 has been distributed to more than 170 student-athletes in the province.
Hoffman was the lone Sault native to be awarded a bursary. The others included:
