Not even a 46 save performance by goaltender Kyle Gajewski could lift the Soo Greyhounds to a victory on Thursday night in Windsor.

Using a goal by Peter Aston on the team's sixth shootout attempt, the Windsor Spitfires claimed a 1-0 win over the visiting Greyhounds in Ontario Hockey League action.

The teams skated to a 0-0 tie through 60 minutes of regulation time and another five minutes of overtime leading to the shootout.

The Greyhounds' Scott Restoule and Windsor's Ryan Garlock also scored on the second shootout attempt for each team.

Gajewski was named the game's first star for his efforts while Windsor counterpart Anthony Guadagnolo stopped 28 shots in the win.

Tyler Kennedy, Ryan Kitchen, Cody Thornton, Matthew Lyall and David Kuchejda were the Greyhound shooters foiled in the shootout.

With the loss, the Greyhounds were able to pick up a single point but remain two points behind the Erie Otters for the eighth and final playoff spot while falling four points behind Windsor for seventh position.

The Greyhounds continue their three-game road swing on Friday night in Sarnia at 7:30 p.m. before conlcuding the trip on Sunday in Saginaw at 2 p.m.
