The Soo Greyhounds are struggling to find their groove.

Led by a two goal effort from Sault Ste. Marie product Zack Torquato, the Saginaw Spirit skated to a 5-2 victory on Saturday night in Saginaw to hand the Hounds their third consecutive loss on the road.

The Greyhounds now find themselves at 5-8 on the season and have just three wins in their past 10 games.

Things looked good early for the Hounds as Cody Thornton scored on the power play just 59 seconds into the game.

But Torquato answered with his first goal of the night just 1:30 later to tie the score before Tom Pyatt and the Hounds' David Kuchejda traded goals to send the game into the second period tied at 2-2.

Joe McCann scored the game winning goal in the second period before Torquato and Ryan McDonough, into an empty net, sealed the win for Saginaw in the third period.

Patrick McNeill recorded three assists for the Spirit while McDonough and Michal Birner set up two goals each. Matt Hache took the loss in goal for the Hounds and Francois Thuot the win for Saginaw.

The Greyhounds will now get a chance to regroup on home ice as the team begins a three-game homestand on Wednesday night at Memorial Gardens against the Spirit at 7 p.m.

The Kitchener Rangers visit on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. start before the Kingston Frontenacs come to town next Sunday at 7 p.m.
