The Soo Greyhounds put an end to a three-game road trip with their second win of the swing on Sunday afternoon in Saginaw.

In dramatic fashion, Josh Godfrey scored the game winner 1:17 into the overtime period on the power play to lift the Hounds to a 3-2 win over the Sagniaw Spirit, who had Jesse Gimblett in the penalty box for overtime after taking a kneeing major and game misconduct late in the third period.

The Greyhounds opened the road trip on Thursday with a loss in Sarnia before rebounding for a win over Plymouth on Friday.

The four weekend points lift the Hounds record to 19-25-3-2 for 43 points and an eighth place standing in the Ontario Hockey League's western conference.

The Hounds sit six points ahead of the Erie Otters, who have a game in hand but haven't won in the past 10 contests, and four behind the Windsor Spitfires for seventh.

In Saginaw, the Greyhounds held a 2-0 lead at one point as Tyler Kennedy opened the scoring in the first period before Scott Restoule added another 48 seconds into the second frame.

Saginaw roared back to tie as Gimblett scored later in the second period on the power play and Michal Birner tied the game in the third.

Kennedy added two assists for a three point night while Kyle Gajewski stopped 28 of 30 shots for the win in goal. The Hounds fired 40 shots at Spirit goaltender Francois Thuot.

The Hounds return home to begin a three-game homestand on Friday at Memorial Gardens against the Guelph Storm. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the Greyhounds host the Toronto St. Michael's Majors at 7:30 p.m. while the Sarnia Sting visits next Tuesday at 7 p.m.
