Playing an inspired brand of hockey, the Greyhounds doubled up the Erie Otters 6-3 at the Steelback Centre to end a four-game Ontario Hockey League losing streak.

The win also capped a three-game homestand with the team ready to hit the road for a trio of contests beginning Thursday night in Windsor.

In the opening period, the Hounds jumped on the board at 1:53 on the power play as Payton Liske knocked a rebound past Otters goaltender Ryan Ludzik.

Minutes later, the Hounds experienced a scary moment as defenseman Andrew Campbell, who was caught down on the ice, took a slap shot from Otters defenseman Andrew Hotham in the face. A bleeding Campbell was taken off the ice but would later return to the game after taking five stitches to the cheek.

Matt Hache, making the start in goal for the Hounds, was sharp in this game and made several stops early to keep the Otters off the board.

Erie did get on the board at 14:45 of the period as Stanislav Polodna stepped out of the penalty box, took a Dustin Jeffrey giveaway and jammed it past Hache as the net came off its magnets.

Andrew Desjardins gave the Hounds a lead before intermission as he deked out Ludzik after a set up in front from Matt Lyall.

In the second period, the Greyhounds continued to pour it on as Liske notched his second of the night after converting a two-on-one break with James Livingston before Cody Thornton potted his ninth of the year for a 4-1 lead.

Another scary moment occured in the period as Erie's Derrick Bagshaw was carried off the ice by local paramedics on a stretcher after crashing hard into the boards. Early reports indicate the overager suffered a concussion.

Jiri Tlusty then scored his third goal as a Greyhound for a huge 5-1 lead heading to the third period.

In a third period where the Hounds were forced to kill numerous penalties, Hotham and Anthony Peluso scored for the Otters while Lyall capped the scoring for the Hounds.

Hache kicked aside 30 of the 33 shots he faced to grab his first OHL win.

The Hounds fired 40 shots at Erie. Liske was named the game's first star while Lyall took second star honours and Hache third.
