The Soo Greyhounds reversed their shootout fortunes on Friday night with a big win on the road against the Sarnia Sting.

One night after falling 1-0 to the Windsor Spitfires in a shootout, the Greyhounds delivered in the skill competition and scored a 2-1 victory over the Sting.

After the Hounds' Scott Restoule and Sarnia's Harrison Reed traded goals on the first shootout attempts, Tyler Kennedy stepped up and delivered the game winner with a shot between the pads of Sting goaltender Ryan Nie on the Hounds' third shot.

Former Hound Ryan McInerney had a chance to continue the overtime on the final shot but was foiled by Hounds goaltender Kyle Gajewski.

Gajewski turned in another outstanding performance and was named the game's first star for the second consecutive night by stopping 31 shots. Nie, the game's second star, also faced 32 shots.

Dustin Jeffrey scored his 10th goal of the season one minute into the second period to give the Hounds a 1-0 until 11:45 of the third period when Reed scored on the power play.

The victory pulls the Greyhounds into a tie for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference with the Erie Otters, who hold a game in hand. The Soo sits with a 16-22-2-2 record and are four points behind seventh place Windsor.

The Hounds conclude their three-game road trip on Sunday against the Saginaw Spirit at 2 p.m.
