The Soo Greyhounds skated to a 3-3 tie with the Windsor Spitfires on Friday night to open a pre-season-ending road trip.

Jeff Doyle scored twice while Jordan Smith added another to pace the Greyhounds attack. Kevin Druce went the distance in goal for the Greyhounds and preserved a tie for his team by stopping 16 of 17 shots peppered his way by Windsor in the third period.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday night in Leamington before the Greyhounds close the exhibition schedule on Sunday afternoon in Saginaw.

In other news, overage forward Scott Dobben has been returned to the Greyhounds after his stint in training camp with the Ottawa Senators. Dobben's return puts four overage skaters on the roster for three lineup spots.

Dobben is battling Sean Stefanski, Jeff Doyle and Ryan MacKay for the overage spots.

Jeff Carter, with the Philadelphia Flyers, and Martin Tuma, with the Florida Panthers, remain at National Hockey League camps.
