Brad Jacobs' bid for a second consecutive Canada Cup came to an end on Friday night.

The Jacobs rink, which includes third Marc Kennedy, second E.J. Harnden, and lead Ryan Harnden, dropped a pair of games on Friday to finish round-robin action with a 2-4 record.

Jacobs opened the day with a 5-4 loss in an extra end against Edmonton’s Brendan Bottcher in the morning draw.

Bottcher took a 2-0 lead after scoring one with the hammer and stealing one in the second end.

Jacobs got on the board with a pair in the third end.

After Bottcher blanked the fourth end, the teams traded singles in the subsequent two ends, beginning with a single by Bottcher in the fifth.

With Bottcher leading 4-3, Jacobs blanked the eighth and ninth ends before scoring one in the tenth end to send it to an extra end where Bottcher would pick up the win.

Jacobs wrapped up the event with a 6-2 loss in eight ends against Brad Gushue of St. John's, Nfld.

With the teams tied at one through three ends, Gushue scored three in the fourth end to take the lead for good.

Jacobs scored one in the fifth to cut Gushue's lead to 4-2 but couldn't get any closer.
