The second event of the season is underway for Brad Jacobs and his Sault-based curling team.

The Jacobs rink, which includes third Marc Kennedy, second E.J. Harnden, and lead Ryan Harnden, opened the 2019 Stu Sells Tankard in Toronto with a 5-2 win over Toronto’s Rob Ainsley.

With the hammer early, Jacobs blanked the opening end before scoring a pair to take the lead in the second end.

After Jacobs stole one in the fourth end to increase the lead to 3-0, Ainsley scored one in the fifth and cut into the lead further with a steal of one in the sixth before Jacobs sealed the win with a pair in the seventh end.

The Jacobs rink will face Winnipeg’s Jason Gunnlaugson on Friday afternoon in the triple-knockout event.
