Junior Greyhounds pick up two weekend wins

The Jr. Greyhounds returned to regular season action over the weekend after a break for Christmas

The Soo Jr. Greyhounds returned to action following the Christmas break and it was a successful weekend for the local Great North Midget League entry.

The team picked up a pair of wins on home ice against the North Bay Trappers minor midget team at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

On Friday night, the Jr. Greyhounds opened the weekend with a 4-1 win.

Devin Mauro had a pair of goals for the Jr. Greyhounds.

Ethan Esposito and Mason Chitaroni also scored.

Dallas Landriault had the lone goal for North Bay.

On Saturday night, Michael Chaffay scored three times as the Jr. Greyhounds capped the weekend with a 7-5 win.

Esposito, Stephen Pszeniczny, and Ty Zachary chipped in with a goal and two assists each for the4 Jr. Greyhounds.

Dylan Forsyth had a goal and an assist in the win.

Nico Laforge had a goal and two assists for North Bay.

Dom Godin, Brett Richardson, and Landriault added a goal and an assist each for North Bay while Chase Thompson also scored.

Winners of eight straight games, the Jr. Greyhounds hold the top record in the GNML at 19-4-0-2.

The Jr. Greyhounds return to regular season action on the road against the Sudbury Wolves minor midget team on Feb. 1.
