Junior Greyhounds remain unbeaten after road trip

The first road trip of the GNML season saw the Soo Jr. Greyhounds pick up three wins

A strong start to the Great North Midget League season continued for the Soo Jr. Greyhounds AAA midget team over the weekend.

After opening the season with a three-game sweep of Timmins at home one week earlier, the team went on the road and picked up three more wins, including a 5-3 win over Timmins on Sunday to wrap up the trip.

Gavin Ritacco had a pair of goals in Sunday’s win while Devin Mauro had a goal and two assists.

Dylan Forsyth and Calem Mangone also scored in the win over Timmins.

On Saturday night, the Jr. Greyhounds scored four times in the opening period in an 8-3 win over Timmins.

Connor Toms had two goals and an assist in the contest. Mauro, Ritacco, Dylan Szabo, and Adam Barone chipped in with a goal and an assist each while Mason Chitaroni and Ty Zachary also scored.

The Jr. Greyhounds opened the trip on Friday night with an 8-4 win in New Liskeard over the Cubs.

Mauro and Michael Chaffay had two goals each in the win. Szabo, Barone, Mangone, and Dylan Forsyth also scored.

The Jr. Greyhounds return to action on Oct. 12 when they open a two-game weekend set with the Kapuskasing Flyers at the John Rhodes Community Centre.
