Juvenile basketball tryouts upcoming

The Juvenile Development Program (JDP) is designed to develop athletes in preparation for the next level of competition including the provincial and national team programs. Basketball Ontario will be following FIBA rules of play for JDP camp.

2007 JDP Camp Dates

The 2007 Juvenile Development Program (JDP) Camp will be taking place at York University from Friday June 29th- Monday July 2nd, 2007. Please keep posted to the website for region tryouts to begin in May. Athletes must be under the age of 17 as of January 1st, 2007 to be eligible for this program.

JDP tryouts for the Sault Ste Marie region will take place May 10th at Algoma University from 5:30 to 7:30, please show up early for registration. There will be a final tryout that you will be invited to if you make it past the first tryout. It is held, Sunday May 13th from 1-4 at Laurentian University in Sudbury. Tryouts are 40 dollars for non members and 25 for basketball Ontario members. The Sault Ste Marie tryouts will be done by former JDP assistant coach Danielle Marchand.

With athletes being selected to teams from within their own regions with the objective of participating at the upcoming Camp. The Juvenile Development Camp is usually held in late June or early July and takes place over a four-day period. During this camp, athletes receive skill development as part of their regional teams and then compete in a tournament against other regional teams in the province for the Juvenile Development Camp Championships. In addition to both individual and team skill development within the tournament format, athletes participate in guest sessions performed by keynote speakers from the basketball community. Guest sessions range from National Team Coaches to strength and conditioning specialists.
