Tyler Kennedy got a wake up call like no other on Sunday morning as the Soo Greyhounds forward was the first player called as the NHL draft continued on Sunday.

With the first three rounds completed on Saturday afternoon, the National Hockey League Entry Draft continued on Sunday morning with rounds four through nine.

With the first pick in round four, the Pittsburgh Penguins selected the speedy and offensively talented Kennedy, a local product, 99th overall.

Jason Pitton was the final Greyhound to be selected as the New York Islanders snagged the intriguing prospect in the eighth round, 244th overall.

Kennedy, who stands at 5-foot-10 and 175 pounds, is a former first round draft pick of Hounds and will be entering his third OHL season. In 63 games last season, the 18 year-old Kennedy scored 16 goals and 42 points.

Pitton, a six-foot-two and 195 pound right winger, scored nine goals and 20 points in 67 games last year as a rookie while seeing his ice time increase as the season progressed.

Jordan Smith began the Greyhounds draft parade on Saturday after being selected in the second round, 39th overall, by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

Brad Good and Jakub Cech were also highlighted as possible late round selections but will now look forward to building their stock for next year after being bypassed this time around.
