George Wilson had a pretty successful afternoon on Sunday at Laird International Raceway.

The veteran driver came away with a second place finish to Robert Hiiemaa in the fast car dash before he came away with top spot in the late model feature race, finishing just ahead of Michael Gold and Chris Furkey.

The win capped off a night that saw Wilson come away from the two heat races he was entered in with a fifth and sixth place finish. The first Late Model heat saw Rick Ellis take the win, finishing ahead of Paul Seabrook and Dennis Varcoe. Heat two saw rookie driver Jeremy Van Hoek take the checker flag finishing ahead of Gold and Furkey. Paul Seabrook took heat three beating out Ellis and Dan Desjardins. The final Late Model heat race saw Van Hoek become victorious again as he edged out Furkey and Rod Bolduc for the win.

In the Modified division, Kevin Oicle and Cory Furkey were the stars of the show. Along with Shawn Ritchie, the three managed to take the top three spots in the two heat races as well as the feature. Ritchie finished third in all three while Oicle and Furkey battled it out for the top two spots. The first heat saw Oicle come away with the victory over Furkey, but Furkey battled back and finished first in the second heat as well as when it counted as he took top spot over Oicle in the feature race.

In the Factory Stock division, Ritchie, who was racing in both the Modified as well as the Factory Stock divisions, took top spot in the first Factory Stock heat race, finishing ahead of Kevin Pace and John Fragale. The second heat saw Pace take the victory, finishing ahead of Fragale and Steve Kent. Despite not being too much of a factor in the heat races, David Slingsby was on his game when it really counted as he took top spot in the Factory Stock feature race, edging out Pace and Fragale for the victory.

Three races in the Pure Stock division saw three different winners on Sunday. Heat race one saw Bill Butler take top spot over Joe Addison and Len Bibeau. Bibeau then topped Butler and Norm Miller in the second heat race. The feature race saw Corey Diotte top Miller and Ray Golladay to take the win.

In the Stock 4’s division Mike Savino increased his lead in the division’s point’s standings by winning the first heat race over George Haldenby, who finished second, and Dave king, who placed third. Savino then won the third heat race over Steve Baraluk and Mike Baraluk. Heat race two saw Jordan Sims top King and Haldenby to take the win. In the feature Steve Baraluk took top spot finishing ahead of second place King and Mike Baraluk who place third. Savino placed fourth in the feature.
