Local basketball notebook

The first annual Algoma U Coed Basketball Basics camp is being held this week for grades 3 to 5 and 1 to 3.

The camp includes the following instructors: Algoma University College's Men' Basketball Head Coach Thomas Cory, Robbie Green and Algoma U Varsity players.

There are still openings in the 3rd Annual Guy Vetrie Memorial Basketball Camps being held the weeks of July 31 to August 4th (for grades 5 to 8) and August 8-12 (for grades 9-12).

These camps feature Ken Schildroth (former McGill University Men's Basketball Head Coach) and Mike Connolly (current University of Lethbridge Men's Head Coach).

*** TRIPLE THREAT CAMP:

The Elite basketball camp is for high school players that are looking to prepare for the upcoming season.

The Camp is from August 14th-August 18th. The girls elite camp is from 9am until 12 pm. The boys elite camp is from 1pm-4pm.

Players will receive expert instruction on the fundamentals of basketball shooting, defence, passing, dribbling and team play. More focus will be on specialized conditioning techniques to increase endurance for upcoming basketball season.

Camp instructors include Don Muto, Rob Green, Tom Cory, and Jessica King. Cost of the camp is $90 and each player will receive a Triple Threat Basketball Saxon Jersey.

*** TITAN TRYOUT SCHEDULE REVISED:

The Titan Boys Basketball Club have set their tryout dates for the upcoming season.

The rep teams will be coached this season by Matt Olivera (grade 9), Donny Muto (grade 11) and Thomas Cory (grade 10 & 12).
