Croatia showed why they posted an 8-3 record through the first half of the Sault Senior Soccer League Men's First Division season on Sunday evening.

Facing Cellar Tap, currently sitting in fourth in the standings, Croatia scored four times in the first half en route to a 7-1 victory and the mid-season championship at Tom Tipton Field.

The seven-goal outburst came after Cellar Tap opened the scoring early on in the match.

Evan Timusk opened the scoring in the first half, giving Cellar Tap a 1-0 lead, but that was the extent of Cellar Taps offensive output for the night.

Richard Majic got Croatia on the board and got the ball rolling for the top-seeded club. Andrew Gray scored a pair of goals and Matt Irving also chipped in with a goal to send the game into the half with Croatia up 4-1.

The second half looked as though the game would finish as a 4-1 final, until later in the half when Croatia's offense picked up again.

Matt Dias put Croatia up 5-1 before Gray scored his third goal of the night shortly thereafter. Dias scored his second goal of the night in the final minutes of the match to wrap up the 7-1 score.

Regular season action continues on Tuesday as Systems International/PSC takes on U-Betcha at 7 p.m. at Tom Tipton field.
