The Soo Cambrian Mazda Black Sox opened their title defence of the Ontario Baseball Association Midget A Championship on Friday with a 6-1 victory over London Tecumseh.

Tyler Binkley, who was recently named one of 32 players competing for a spot on the Canadian National Junior Team tryouts set for October in Disney, Florida, earned the victory as he pitched a complete-game, four-hitter. Binkley struck out 10, walked one and also hit a batter.

Joey Lesage led the way offensively for the Black Sox, who had nine hits in the game. Lesage had a pair of singles and also knocked in a run.

Next up for the Sox is a game against Newmarket at 8:30 Saturday morning.

Other Friday games saw Newmarket defeat Guelph 2-1 and Kingston defeat Sudbury 6-4.
