After what the coaches and players deemed as their worst performance of the season on Sunday morning in a 10-0 loss to host Chatham, the Sports Gold Mosquito Black Sox regrouped in the afternoon championship game to defeat the same Chatham team 12-9 in 8 innings.
The Sox jumped out to an early 9-1 lead but the host team fought back to even the game at 9 after 3 innings. The game stayed tied until the top of the 8th when Jarret Miller hit a 2 run double and later scored on a ground out.
That was all that winning pitcher Coty Anderson needed as he shut the door in the bottom of the inning to seal the championship. Anderson pitched a remarkable 5 innings, picking up from starter Cody Yardanoff and reliever Aaron Savage.
The win was the second tournament victory in the past 3 weeks as they gear up for the league play-offs first, and then the Ontario Baseball Association championships on the Labour Day weekend in Sarnia.
