North Stars complete sweep of Kirkland Lake

The Soo North Stars turned up the offense for a 9-2 victory on Sunday afternoon to complete a sweep of the Kirkland Lake 87’s at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

Brad DiCandia led the North Stars with three goals in the win while Brett Perlini scored twice and set up two others. Tyler Liukkonen and Dan Vernelli added a goal and an assist each while single goals went to Derrek Coccimiglio and Adam Pyymaki.

Trevor McNutt recorded three assists while Dean Howard and Jerry Petingalo set up two each. Ryan Dube picked up the win in goal.

The North Stars, now 13-1 on the season, hit the road next weekend for a rematch with Kirkland Lake on Saturday before visiting the New Liskeard Cubs on Sunday.

Following the road trip, the North Stars will prepare for the Big Nickel Tournament held in Sudbury November 3-6.
