Despite a new look lineup, the Soo North Stars are proving once again to be at the top of the class in the Great North Midget League.

This past weekend on the road, the North Stars blanked the Kirkland Lake 87's 3-0 on Saturday night before taming the New Liskeard Cubs 3-2 on Sunday afternoon.

In the 3-0 win over Kirkland Lake, the North Stars received their third consecutive shutout from returning goaltender Travis O'Brien.

O'Brien has not allowed a goal since opening night and his shutout streak now stands at 190 minutes and 47 seconds. Through four games, O'Brien boasts a 0.50 goals-against-average.

Mike Quesnele, Paul Dupont and Jake Reid provided the North Stars scoring.

On Sunday, Jason Bird paced the locals attack with a goal and two assists. Single goals went to Dupont and Matt Conway. Ryan Dube recorded the win in goal.

With the victories, the North Stars improve their record to 6-0-0-1 for 13 points and a three point lead over second place North Bay.

The North Stars will hit the road again next weekend for a pair of big early season games against the North Bay Trappers on Saturday and Sunday.
