OHL Annual General Meeting Concludes in Collingwood

On Friday August 10, 2007 the Ontario Hockey League concluded its Annual General Meeting in Collingwood, Ontario. During these meetings the League’s Board of Governors approved the proposed 2007-08 business plan. The meetings were highlighted by the following appointments to the OHL Executive Committee:

Sherwood Bassin – Chairman Scott Abbott – Past Chairman Jeff Hunt – Vice-Chair Dr. Robert Neville-Secretary/Treasurer Brian Johnson – Member at Large

Attack hire Jeff Reid as new assistant coach

Owen Sound - It didn’t take long for Dale DeGray to find a replacement for the departed David Bell. Jeff Reid is a native of Owen Sound and brings a distinguished background as a player to his post as the assistant coach for the Attack. Jeff played Major Junior A hockey with the Cornwall Royals where he ranks second behind Doug Gilmour in franchise career points. Jeff went on to play 4 years of professional hockey with stops in Las Vegas, Orlando and Raleigh. His career came to an end with the Canadian National Team in Calgary. An injury sent him back to university to complete his degree. Jeff is seen as a players coach who bases his coaching philosophy on hard work, character and determination.

David Bell Joins Springfield Falcons

Owen Sound - The Owen Sound Attack would like to announce that Assistant Coach David Bell will be joining the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League as an Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2007/2008 season.

David is leaving the Attack organization after becoming an Assistant Coach in the 2004/2005 season under former bench boss, Mike Stothers.

A search for a replacement will be put forth by General Manager Dale DeGray. No timeline has been set for a replacement. The Attack organization wish David the absolute best of luck in his future endeavors and thank him for all of his hard work and dedication over the past three seasons.

Windsor Spitfires Foundation Donates $5,000

(Windsor) The Windsor Spitfires Foundation was proud to donate $5,000 to the 11th annual John Ferguson Celebrity Charity Golf Classic, conducted yesterday at the Essex Golf and Country Club. This year’s event was the first time it served as a memorial to John Ferguson, who passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer this past year.

Spitfires owners Bob Boughner, Warren Rychel and Peter Dobrich participated in the special Golf Classic and presented the donation to event organizers following the conclusion of play. Bob Boughner offered his thoughts on participating in the event."It was an honour to be invited to the John Ferguson Celebrity Charity Golf Classic and we felt it was important to provide a donation on behalf of the Windsor Spitfires Foundation. John Ferguson was a great person and friend, and positively affected the lives of many people within this community.”
