After being passed over in two previous NHL drafts, Allard posted 18 goals and 26 assists in 55 games this season in addition to playing for Team Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championships at Christmas.

A former member of the Greyhounds club was also selected in round five as the Edmonton Oilers drafted Connor Clattenburg with the 160th overall pick.
