Regular season complete in high school basketball

Superior Heights took top spot in senior action while St. Mary's finished first in the junior loop

Regular season action in girl’s high school basketball wrapped up on Wednesday night.

In senior action, the Superior Heights Steelhawks capped off a perfect regular season with a 43-27 win over the Korah Colts.

Brayden Corbett-Lewis and Hannah Heimonen had eight points each for Superior Heights, who finished the regular season with a 9-0 record and claimed top spot.

Allie Barnett had seven points while Gracie Sloss and Jadyn Zeppa had six points each for Korah, who finished the regular season with a 4-5 record and in third place.

Wednesday’s other senior game saw St. Mary’s beat White Pines 49-28 on the strength of a 12-point performance from Shawna Corbiere.

Mercedes Mazzuca had 11 points for St. Mary’s.

Cecilia Holzworth had nine points for White Pines while Alex Dewar had seven points.

St. Mary’s finished the regular season in second place with a 5-4 record while White Pines finished fourth.

In junior action on Wednesday night, Ashlyn Noble had 12 points as St. Mary’s beat White Pines 47-10.

Kiera Kent had 10 points for St. Mary’s, who took top spot in the standings with an 8-1 record.

Chloe Cormier had five points for White Pines, who finished fourth in the junior standings.

Wednesday’s other junior game saw Lucy Lafrance score 12 points in a 59-36 win by Korah over Superior Heights.

Emmalie Allard had 14 points for Superior Heights.

Sadie Grawbarger chipped in with 11 points.

Korah finished second in the junior standings with a 6-3 record while Superior Heights finished third with a 4-5 record.

In action on Tuesday night, Mazzuca had 10 points as St. Mary’s picked up a nine-point win over Korah, beating the Colts by a 37-28 margin.

Shanelle Edwards and Paige Banton had eight points each for St. Mary’s.

Sloss led Korah with 11 points while Kyler Grisdale had 10.

In Tuesday’s other senior game, Heimonen had 12 points as Superior Heights beat White Pines 50-21.

Mackenzie McBride had seven points for White Pines.

In junior action on Tuesday, Noble had 18 points to lead St. Mary’s to a narrow 35-32 win over Korah.

Kent chipped in with seven points for St. Mary’s.

Maddie Clement had eight points and Lafrance had seven points for Korah.

Allard had 17 points as Superior Heights beat White Pines 38-16 in Tuesday’s other junior game.

Elyce Bowman had seven points for White Pines.

Next up on the schedule is semifinal action on Nov. 4.

In junior semifinal action, St. Mary’s will host White Pines while Korah will host Superior Heights. Both games will begin at 5:15 p.m.

The senior semifinal games will see Superior Heights host White Pines and St. Mary’s host Korah with both games set to tip off at 7 p.m.

The city final is set for Nov. 8 at Sault College.
