The St. Basil Saints handed the St. Mary's Knights their first taste of defeat this season.

The Saints used goals from Nick DiCandia and Frank D'Addetta to squeak past the Knights 2-1 in high school hockey action on Friday night at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

The loss snapped the Knights record of 9-0-1 since the beginning of the season.

Matt Kudyba replied with the lone goal for the Knights.

In the second game, Tyler Robinson scored four times and Brad Hara recorded the shutout as the Sir James Dunn Eagles blanked the Bawating Braves 10-0.

Brad Hernden added three goals for the Eagles while Matt Irving scored twice and Graham Dalseg added another.

The league will close out the first half of the season with a pair of tripleheaders at Memorial Gardens on Saturday and Sunday before halting play until the new year.

On Saturday at 5 p.m., Bawating plays St. Basil followed by Sir James Dunn and St. Mary's at 6:45 p.m. CASS faces Korah in the final contest at 8:30 p.m.

Sir James Dunn and St. Basil begin Sunday's action at 5 p.m. with CASS and Bawating facing off at 6:45 p.m. followed by St. Mary's and White Pines at 8:30 p.m.
