The Sault College Cougars opened the new year by claiming their first win of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) men's basketball season.

The Sault College Cougars opened the new year by claiming their first win of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) men's basketball season.

On Saturday afternoon at the Sault College gym, the Cougars knocked off Hamilton's Mohawk Mountaineers 93-89. Sault College led 48-39 at the half.

Rodney Rodgers led the Cougars attack with 32 points while Dionte Dunning added 20 and Aaron Richards 16. Igor Trbojeuk led Mohawk with 28 points.

With the win, the Cougars improve to 1-7 on the season with their next game scheduled against cross-town rival Algoma University College on Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the Sault College gym.
