Sault Ste. Marie Makes Their Mark In Burlington

This past weekend the Sault Ste. Marie Gymnastics Club returned from a Women's Artistic competition in Burlington. There where a total of twelve members who competed in The Burlington Spring Cup. All members returned home with fantastic results, including 5 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 4 bronze medals. Starting off the weekend was Sarah Printess who competed in level 3; age 11 and placed fifth overall with a bronze medal on Bars. Next up Reilly Turbide, Jaden Cerasuolo and Amanda Dawson took the floor. Reilly competed in Level 4 age 10; group A and placed fifth overall with a silver medal on Floor and a bronze medal on Vault. Jaden competed in Level 4 age 10; group B and was the gold medallist all around and also grabbed gold on floor and silver on vault. Amanda competed in provincial level 5 and placed ninth overall with a fifth place on floor.

First thing on the second day of competition Taylor Felix, Alison Reive, Lauren Malaska and Brooklyn Wilkins were up. Taylor who competed in level 4 age 11; group B took the bronze medal all around, gold medals on both Vault and Bars and silver on Floor. Alison competed in level 4 age 11; group A and place fifth overall with fourth place on Vault, Bars and Beam. Lauren joined her teammate in level 4 age 11; group A with an eighth place overall including a silver medal on Floor and a fourth on Bars. Brooklyn competed in Provincial level 5 age 14+ and placed fifth overall with a gold medal on Bars, silver on Floor and bronze on Vault. Second Flight of the day Ashleigh Harrison and Kaylee Raynor were up. Ashleigh competed in Provincial level 6 age 11 and placed fifth overall with fourth place on both Beam and Floor. Kaylee competed Provincial level 5 age 11 and placed sixth overall with a silver medal on floor. Kaylee also received a special award for Most Artistic and Expressive Floor Routine. Closing the weekend were Maria Proulx and Chantal Cinq-Mars who competed in Provincial level 6 age 12/13. Maria placed fourth on beam and seventh overall. Chantal was just behind her teammate with a fifth on beam and eighth overall. Congratulations to all the girls on their spectacular performances. Up next for the members of the Sault Ste. Marie Gymnastics Club will be the Sunshine Classic in North Bay.
