MYTE DIVISION

The Sault Minor Football Association's 11th season kicked off with two thrilling Myte Division match ups. Cameron Elgie exploded with three touchdowns including a 40yrd touchdown run in the final seconds as Community First squeaked by Lop Lops 21-15. Quarterback Nicholas Sicoly played a strong game for Lop Lops returning a kick off 65 yards for a touchdown. Sicoly also hooked up with receiver Parker Caicco for a 45 yard touchdown pass. Lop Lops Cameron Lambert was selected as the Scholar's Learning Player of the Game.

In the other Myte Division match up, Adam McPhail reached the end zone for his second touchdown of the game in the final seconds on a 45 yard touchdown run down the sidelines as J.M.C. Builders beat Rezolution 21-14 in a thriller. Devon Service scored J.M.C''s other touchdown on a 50 yard touchdown run. Chris Sabourin and Andrew Dale had strong games on offense for Rezolution as they both scored on touchdown runs. Rezolution Linebacker Jacob Myers had an outstanding game on defense earning him Scholars' Player of the Game honours.

TYKE DIVISION

In the first of two Tyke Division games, Sports Gold running back Peter Greve scored late in the second half on a 25 yard scamper down the right side to complete his team's comeback as Sports Gold defeated Flakeboard 19-18. Running Back Matt Pinder had an outstanding game for Sports Gold scoring on two red-zone touchdown runs from 10 and 15 yards respectfully. Flakeboard Quarterback James White had a great game running and passing for his team. White scored on a long touchdown run and threaded a pass to his cousin, wide receiver Matthew White in the endzone for another major, earning him the Scholar's player of the game. Running back Joshua Miskiw had a strong game on the ground running for Flakeboard running for numerous yards and a touchdown.

In what was a fitting way to finish a competitive day of football, Calzone's and Rome's finished their battle tied 12-12. Calzone's running Backs Nicholas Guilietti and Thomas Pratt proved to be a successful one two punch as they each had beautiful runs and a touchdown a piece in the first half to lead 12-0. Teammate Mitch Mazzuca was all over the field making plays for his team on defense. Rome's was led by the solid play of Quarterback Austin Maccarone and Running backs Mathieu Ouellet and Mathew Mitchell. Maccarone and Mitchell tied the game in the second half with two nice touchdown runs. Mazzuca was selected by the referee's as the Scholar's player of the game.
