The U12 Ice Hawks Provincial Ringette team delivered a strong round robin performance (4-0-0) this past weekend at the Newmarket Ignite the Ice ringette tournament.
“They worked really hard and stuck to the fundamentals of their game,” said head coach Bruce Graham. “Our bench staff is very proud of how this young U12 squad came together in the finals with a 5-2 gold medal win over the Richmond Hill Lightning.”
The Ringette Club’s U10 team also saw success at the Newmarket tournament, bringing home silver.
“Our girls travelled to Newmarket looking for a challenge to develop the team’s skills and strategies,” said head coach Amy Peltonen. Entering the final game 2-1-0, “Every team member approached the medal game with a determination to fight hard against a strong opponent. They rose to the challenge and skated hard from beginning to end, making their coaches proud of their dedication and teamwork through to the end of the game.”
The strong showing of our U12 and U10 Ice Hawks ringette teams gives solid momentum heading into the U12 Provincial and U10 Regional championship tournaments this spring.
The Sault Ringette club will host the U12 Provincial Championship April 2–5, 2020. Thirty teams from across Ontario, including the U12 Sault Ice Hawks, will represent their communities.
