The Sault College Cougars opened the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association regular season on Friday with a split of the men's and women's West Region basketball games.

The Sault College Cougars opened the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association regular season on Friday with a split of the men's and women's West Region basketball games. The Cougar women -- a first-year club entry -- fell 78-30 to the Redeemer Royals as Lee Anne Faganely and Thecla Smith both scored seven points for the Sault. The Sault College men then capped the evening with a 105-95 win over Redeemer led by Sean Seivwright's 26 points. Robbie Green added 21 for the Cougars and Tim Walker added 20. JUNIOR FOOTBALL: The Sir James Dunn Eagles won the junior high school final on Friday with a 14-13 decision over the St. Mary's Knights. The Eagles scored the winning points with just over a minute to play in the game.
