Seven compete at Ontario Special Olympic games

Seven local athletes recently returned home from the 2004 Special Olympic Provincial Spring Games. The event was staged from June 10-13 in Peterborough with Sault athletes competing in both swimming and 10 pin bowling.

Seven local athletes recently returned home from the 2004 Special Olympic Provincial Spring Games.

The event was staged from June 10-13 in Peterborough with Sault athletes competing in both swimming and 10 pin bowling.

Theresa Pasqua and Jeremy Olive led the efforts in bowling while Matthew Macmichael, Jared Macmichael, Rick Francis, Chuck Showan and Ryan Philion represented the Sault in the pool.

Also joining the athletes at the games were regional 10 pin bowling head coach Bob Crouteau and regional team manager Sheryl Huestis.

The seven qualified for the event at the Regional Championships in April 2003.

The following are results from the local athletes:

*** SWIMMING RESULTS:

Jared Macmichael -- 1st - 50M fly, 1st - 200M individual medley, 1st - 100M individual medley.

Matthew Macmichael -- 1st - 25M backstroke

Rick Francis -- 1st - 200M freestyle, 2nd - 50M freestyle, 3rd - 50M backstroke

Ryan Philion -- 1st - 50M freestyle, 1st - 50M backstroke, 2nd - 100M backstroke

Chuck Showan -- 1st - 50M freestyle, 3rd - 200M individual medley

* Jared Macmichael and Chuck Showan -- 1st - 1st 4x25M freestyle relay, 1st - 4x50M freestyle relay

* Jared Macmichael and Ryan Philion -- 2nd - team 200M individual medley

BOWLING RESULTS:
