Sir James Dunn makes it 25 years in a row

The Sir James Dunn Eagles captured the co-ed aggregate title at the High School City Track and Field meet on Tuesday and Wednesday at Jo Forman Track for the 25th consecutive year.

Dominating the field, the Eagles captured the Forman trophy by claiming both the girls and boys aggregate crowns. It marked the 27th consecutive girls championship and 10th straight for the boys.

The Eagles, who won five of six division titles, finished with 919 points followed by the Korah Colts with 474 and the St. Mary's Knights with 445. The lady Eagles won with 424 points followed the Colts with 282. In boys, SJD rung up 495 points while the Knights gathered 251. St. Mary's claimed the midget girls division crown.

Three new city records were also set during the event highlighted by Alanzo Clarke's performance in the senior boys 100-metre dash as the White Pines Wolverine ran the event in 11 seconds flat.

The St. Basil Saints Donovan Bertolo rewrote the junior boys shot put record with a throw of 13.68 metres. On the girls side, St. Basil's Lauren Wozny set a new junior division shot put record with a throw of 9.10 metres.

Individual championships in the boys division were won by Korah's Colin Nickel in senior, SJD's Dominik Graf and Colin Kimball in junior and Richard MacLennan from St. Mary's in midget.

For the girls, Korah's Cassandra McCaig won the senior title, St. Mary's Stevie Reville captured junior honours while St. Mary's Shelby MacDonald, Kaitlin Morin and Tessa Kasch shared the midget crown.

Top competitors from each division will now advance to the Northern Ontario Secondary Schools Association (NOSSA) championships next Thursday and Friday in Sudbury.
