SMALE STRONG IN GUELPH SWIM MEET
Seven members of the Sault Ste. Marie Aquatic Club traveled to Guelph to compete in the Victor Davis Memorial Cup.
Ten year old Carrie-Lynn Smale led the small SSMAC contingency, with a first place finish in the 400-metre freestyle, and two second place finishes in the 50-metre breaststroke and 200-metre individual medley races. Smale was strong with six other top eight finishes.
In the boys' 13-14 age group, Patrick Bonne placed eighth in the 1500-metre freestyle event.
Cait Tomlinson (girls 15 & over) secured a fourth place finish in the 100-metre backstroke and had two fifth place results in the 400-metre individual medley and the 400-metre freestyle events.
Jeff Park, age 19, placed seventh in the 50-metre freestyle, while Alex Bonne competing in the same age category, placed fourth in the 1500-metre freestyle.
Peter Olinger, age 16, garnered two fifth place finishes in the 400-metre individual medley and in the 400-metre freetyle events. Olinger had two other top eight finishes.
Franco Solimano, age 20, won the 200-metre backstroke and placed third in the 100-metre backstroke event.
