A pair of touchdowns from Deaner Breton helped lift Superior Heights to a junior football win over St. Mary's

The Superior Heights Steelhawks are off to a good start in junior high school football.

After a week one win over White Pines, the Steelhawks picked up a 42-21 win over St. Mary’s at Superior Heights.

Deaner Breton had a pair of touchdowns for Superior Heights on runs of 22 and 75 yards.

Breton had 177 yards rushing on nine carries in the win.

Gabe Barkley also ran for a touchdown for the Steelhawks from 11 yards out and finished the day with 113 yards on 11 carries.

Superior Heights ran the ball for 359 yards in the game.

Grant Rains also had two touchdowns for the Steelhawks on catches of seven and 24 yards.

Jacob Tanner also caught a touchdown pass for Superior Heights.

Defensively for Superior Heights, Caden McLeod had six tackles and a sack while Trenton Suphal also had six tackles.

Adam Morgensten ran the ball for 140 yards on nine carries, including a 50-yard touchdown run for St. Mary’s.

Seamus Parlow had a 13-yard touchdown run for the Knights while Reece Martin had an 11-yard touchdown catch.

Defensively for St. Mary’s, Cian Derbowka had six tackles and a fumble recovery while Vaughn Diotte had five tackles and an assisted tackle.

Superior Heights improves to 2-0 with the win while St. Mary’s falls to 0-2.

The Steelhawks are back in action on Sept. 20 against Korah at Superior Heights. Kickoff time is 4:45 p.m.

St. Mary’s returns to action on Sept. 19 against White Pines.
