Superior Heights remains atop the junior high school football standings thanks to a Thursday night win

The Superior Heights Steelhawks remain unbeaten in junior high school football.

Gabe Barkley and Ray Rumial had a pair of touchdowns each as Superior Heights beat White Pines on Thursday night at Superior Heights to move to 4-0.

Barkley ran for 131 yards on five carries and had touchdown runs of 61 and 14 yards while Rumial ran for 115 yards on six carries. That included touchdown runs of three and 54 yards.

Gavin Nye had 130 yards rushing for Superior Heights on 15 carries.

Grant Rains caught a 54-yard touchdown pass while Mitchell Kilby ran a punt back 36 yards for the other touchdowns for the Steelhawks.

Barkley kicked five converts and ran the ball in for a two-point convert to wrap up the Steelhawks scoring.

Defensively for the Steelhawks, Caden McLeod had six tackles while Trenton Suphal had five tackles.

Colt Rushon ran for 77 yards on 13 carries for the Wolverines and also caught a pair of passes for 14 yards

Defensively for White Pines, Adam Gibson had 11 tackles and an assisted tackle while Dylan Knittle had seven tackles. Rushon had six tackles and an assisted tackle.

The loss dropped White Pines’ record to 0-4.

The high school football schedule continues on Friday as Korah faces St. Mary’s at Superior Heights. The junior game begins at 4:45 p.m. with the senior game to follow at 7:30 p.m.
