Steelhawks storm back to tie Colts

It took three goals in the third period, including a goal in the final seconds by Ethan West

A three-goal third period helped the Superior Heights Steelhawks to a high school hockey tie on Sunday evening.

Trailing 5-2 entering the third period, the Steelhawks battled back to earn a 5-5 tie with the Korah Colts Sunday at the GFL Memorial Gardens.

Logan Vandenburg scored a power play goal early in the frame to pull the Steelhawks to within two and Ethan West made it a one-goal game just under four minutes later. West proceeded to tie the game in the final minute with his second of the night.

Connor Malmoff also had a pair of goals for Superior Heights.

Daniel Carricato and Colton Smithers had two goals each for Korah.

Kyle Birch had the other goal for the Colts.

The high school hockey schedule resumes on Wednesday as Superior Heights faces CASS in a 3:30 p.m. puck drop at the John Rhodes Community Centre.
