The Soo Thunderbirds scored a huge victory in exciting fashion on Friday night in North Bay.

Justin Shelleby scored the game winner with just 12 seconds remaining in overtime as the Thunderbirds scored a 3-2 win over the league leading North Bay Skyhawks.

The game was the second of four straight on the road for the locals as they visit the Abitibi Eskimos on Saturday night and the Rayside Balfour Sabrecats on Sunday afternoon.

Now at 19-14-2-2 for 42 points, the Thunderbirds remain seven points back of the Northern Michigan Black Bears and the Blind River Beavers for first place in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League's western division.
