Thunderbirds get back at the Wolves

After dropping a 4-3 decision to Sudbury on home ice last Friday, the Soo Thunderbirds marched into the Wolves den and took two points of their own.

After dropping a 4-3 decision to Sudbury on home ice last Friday, the Soo Thunderbirds marched into the Wolves den and took two points of their own.

On Wednesday night, the Thunderbirds built a 2-0 lead and never trailed in a 6-3 win over the Sudbury Junior Wolves in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action.

Tyler Gendron, Brett Perlini, Jake Reid, Andy McMillan, Kyle Johnson and Brad DiCandia scored for the Thunderbirds. Matt Conway set up three goals and Adam Pyymaki two. Reid and Gendron also added assists for multi-point games.

Former Soo Greyhound Scott Restoule replied with two goals for the Wolves while Jesse Graham notched the other.

Defenseman Jacob Muzzin, on loan from the Greyhounds, picked up an assist for the Thunderbirds.

Travis O'Brien stopped 29 of 32 shots in goal for the win while the Thunderbirds fired 38 shots at the Wolves.

The Thunderbirds return home to host the Abitibi Eskimos on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the John Rhodes Community Centre.
