The Soo Thunderbirds exploded for four second period goals and never looked back.
The outburst led to a 6-4 Thunderbirds win over the Blind River Beavers in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action on Wednesday night at the John Rhodes Community Centre.
After trading first period goals, the locals built leads of 4-1 and 5-2 in the second period.
Nick Minardi, Brett Perlini, Dylan King, Brad DiCandia, Jarrett Burton and Tyler Gendron scored for the Thunderbirds. King added three assists while Perlini set up another.
Jeremy Hilliard replied with a pair of goals for the Beavers while singles went to Matt French and Josh Faulkner. Sault products Matt Irving, with two, and Jacob Chiblow, with one, added assists.
