'Top-notch hockey action': Tickets on sale for Sault College winter classic

Defending Division 2 national champion women's hockey team faces Lawrence Tech, while men's squad takes on the University of Cincinnati

The Sault College Cougars women’s hockey team won the 2023 American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 2 national championships. They currently have a perfect record.

Tickets are now on sale for the annual Sault College Winter Classic  on Jan. 13 at the Northern Community Centre. 

Both the women’s and men’s hockey teams will take to the ice. The women’s Cougars will play Lawrence Tech at 2 p.m. and the men’s squad will take on the University of Cincinnati at 7 p.m.

Tickets, $10, must be purchased in advance (Sault College students and children under 12 are free). The price includes entry into both games. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Sault College’s Athletics Office located in the College’s Health and Wellness Centre.

The reigning ACHA Women's Division 2 National Champions hold a perfect record heading into the second half of the season, and the men's team is close behind with 15 wins and only three losses.

"We are thrilled to host the annual Winter Classic at our home rink at the NCC and showcase the talent and dedication of our student-athletes," said Paul Orazietti, Director of Athletics and Student Experience at Sault College. "These match-ups against Lawrence Tech and the University of Cincinnati are more than just games, they are a celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and strong community spirit. We encourage everyone to come out, support our teams, and enjoy a day of top-notch hockey action."
