Vanderburg and Gagnon awards given to future nursing students

Brooke Brazeau and Milana Perri are the recipients of this year's award

The families of Kyle Vanderburg and Don Gagnon have announced the winners of an inaugural memorial award in support of their legacies.

Brooke Brazeau and Milana Perri are the recipients of this year's award.

I am honoured to be chosen for the Vanderburg and Gagnon Memorial Award,” Perri said. “Hockey has been a big part of my life and my family’s for as long as I can remember.  Don Gagnon was a mentor and friend to me from when I started playing hockey.”

“Don holds a special place in my heart and I will do my best to make him, his family and the Vanderburg family proud,” said Perri.

Brazeau will also be studying Nursing this fall, at Sault College.

“I am truly honoured and very grateful to be the recipient of this generous award from the Gagnon and Vanderburg families,” she said.

Both are going to study nursing in the fall, and both are going to continue playing hockey at the post-secondary level.

The two annual $750 awards in honour of Kyle and Don will be granted to two students with a passion for hockey who are entering their first year of university or college.
