The Ontario Hockey League champion Plymouth Whalers have their backs against the wall at the Memorial Cup in Vancouver.

On Monday night, the Whalers suffered a 4-1 loss to the Western Hockey League champion Medicine Hat Tigers to fall to 0-2 at the tournament.

Plymouth opened the tournament with an overtime loss to the host Vancouver Giants.

Plymouth could secure a tiebreaker with a win in their final round robin game against the Lewiston Maineiacs on Tuesday night. A loss would eliminate the Whalers.

Vancouver currently leads the standings at 2-0 followed by Medicine Hat and Lewiston at 1-1.
