Wolverines and Colts to face off for city title beginning tonight

The Korah Colts and White Pines Wolverines are set to do battle for the High School Hockey League city championship beginning tonight.

Game one is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.

The Colts advanced to the championship series after defeating the St. Basil Saints 4-1 in the deciding game of a best-of-three semi-final on Sunday night at the Gardens.

Alan Middleton, Elliot Marlow, Shawn Bibeau and Riley King scored for the Colts while Rob Amadio replied for the Saints.

The Saints will now meet the St. Mary's Knights, who were ousted in the semi-finals by White Pines, in a series to determine the city's third Northern Ontario Secondary Schools Association (NOSSA) representative. Game one is tonight at 7 p.m. at the Gardens.

Sault Ste. Marie will host the NOSSA AA championships while the AAA playdowns will take place in North Bay.

In game two semi-final action last Thursday, Matt Santos, Anthony Silvano and Josh Reed scored for White Pines in a 3-2 series clinching win over St. Mary's. Josh Ingrabelli and Jesse McAllister replied for the Knights.

Marlow, Jimmy Killoran, Kyle Marshall and Ray Volotaire scored for the Colts in a 4-1 win over the Saints. Marc Gratton replied for St. Basil.
