Just six games to report from Week 13.

In a surprising twist, White Oak Paint was awarded a win after Skip's Kweok inadvertently played with improper pick up players.

The two points were huge for White Oak, moving them back into the playoff picture, tucked nicely into seventh position after three weeks in ninth place, out of the playoffs. Even with the default loss, Skip's remains securely in the top four.

Back to back wins by Crawford's Canines moved "the dogs" from eighth place into sixth nipping at the heels of Algoma Insurance.

*** GAME RESULTS:

Crawford's Canines – 6 Country Way – 1

Wanda Grife stole the show for Crawford's, picking up her sixth win between the pipes. The Canines' netminder also put a little magic in the goal posts, as Country Way ringed at least 5 shots off them during the game. Francine "Flash" Floreani was the only Granola to beat Grife on a pass from Patti Lutz. At the other end of the rink, the Canines came out hungry, scoring five of their six goals in the first period. Robyn Bourck scored twice and added her third later in the second period. Bourck also had two assists. Suzanne Dunn, Laurie Masters and Lisa Rowlinson also scored. Cathy Toni and Chrissy Wade had one assist each.

Crawford's Canines – 5 B&J Trucking – 3

Bourck and Grife were at their best again, leading Crawford's to a 5-3 win over B&J Trucking. Bourck scored her second straight hattrick and added one assist along with single goals from Lisa Rowlinson and Laurie Masters. Masters' goal, with 12:08 remaining in the third stood up to be the winner. Chrissy Wade and Suzanne Dunn each had two assists. Grife was sensational staring down B&J's sharp shooters, Joanne Pine, Deb Nolan and Natalie Barry. Pine was held to two goals and one assist and Deb Nolan eventually scored once. Natalie Barry had two assists.

Country Way – 3 Ontario Concrete – 3

Nothing changed in the"Battle of the Basement" as last place Country Way took on tenth place Ontario Concrete. However, in the early stages it appeared as though Country Way would pull of a win, leading 3-1 after two periods of play. Perhaps it was exhaustion setting in as Country Way only had seven skaters. Perhaps it was just a very, very sloooow start by Ontario Concrete. Whatever the case, the Concrete Crew woke up with 3:27 left to play, scoring to close the gap to 3-2. With the goalie pulled and an extra attacker, they banged home the tying goal with just 26 seconds remaining to steal a point. Patti Lutz had two goals for Country Way. Francine "Flash" Floreani scored once and had one assist. Single assists went to Linda Benedek, Debbie Gallagher and Trish Evans. Geri Miller ripped two goals past Sherri Collins and Kathy Berdux scored once. Assists went to Denise "Deeter" Goldade, Shannon McLeod, Christine Trivers and MaryAnn Stott.

White Oak Paint – 5 Skip's Kweok – 0

White Oak Paint's default win against Skip's Kweok goes into the record books as a 5-0 win. Skip's unknowingly had too few beginners and too many experienced players in the line up to make it a fair game. With apologies to players who recorded points in this game, this writer does not report scoring results from defaulted games.

Source for Sports – 2 Algoma Insurance – 1

Source for Sports squeaked by Algoma Insurance 2-1. Carrie Mancuso's breakaway goal and Chantal Anderson's "strategic bank shot" from the corner made the difference in an entertaining contest. Pick up player, Joanne Thiessen had an assist on Mancuso's marker. Algoma's Debbie "Digger" Desgagne spoiled Amanda Luther's shut out with 2:03 remaining in the game. The win for Source keeps them just two points back of second place Sports Gold. The two teams play each other tomorrow night in Desbarats. The loss puts Algoma Insurance neck and neck with Crawford's for fifth place. Both teams have 16 points but Algoma's better plus/minus record has them hanging on by the skin of their teeth.

BDO Dunwoody – 4 Lafarge – 1

In a somewhat nasty affair, BDO defeated Lafarge 4-1. Pam Booth and Jen Blahey had a goal and an assist, while Wendy Basawa scored twice. Trish Irvine and Amber Lahti each pitched in with a helper. Patti Storozuk scored Lafarge's only goal during a goal mouth scramble midway through the second frame, closing the gap to 3-1. That's as close as the Green Machine would get on this night.
