Action this week in the Women's Hockey League began Saturday night at the Rankin Arena and continued Sunday afternoon at the McMeeken Arena. Fans this weekend were treated to 6 outstanding games including 5 ties, a shutout and a hattrick.

B&J Trucking – 2 vs Source For Sports – 2

It was an action packed first period with all 4 goals being scored. Scoring for B&J Trucking were Joanne Pine and Chantal Anderson, both unassisted. Source's goals came from Stacy Boville, unassisted and Heidi Haldemann, assisted by Patti Lutz.

Lafarge – 1 vs Algoma Ins. – 4

The first period ended in excitement as Robyn Bourck picked up her first of three goals at the buzzer, putting Algoma up one going into the second period. Bourck's second goal of the game came mid-way through the second period. Bourck then completed her hat trick in the third period, followed by one from Denise Goldade to put Algoma up for good. Lafarge's goal came in the third period with 3:22 left to break the shutout.Lafarge's goal was scored by Lisa Rowlinson, unassisted. Assisting on Algoma's goals were Goldade with two and Julie Laforce with one.

Country Way – 1 vs White Oak Paint – 1

Country Way started things off in a hurry scoring at 9:22 in the first period. Scoring for Country Way was Brenda Sayers, assisted by Patti Storozuk. White Oak answered back in the second period when Sarah Fischer put on passed Joy Agawa. Assisting on Fischer's goal was Doreen Shaw.

Sports Gold – 1 vs Crawford's – 0

There was end to end action throughout the first period, leaving it scoreless going into the second. Debbie Desgagne broke the silence with 3:10 left to go in the second period for Sports Gold, which turned out to be the game winner. Assisting on the goal was Lori Swan.

BDO Dunwoody – 2 vs Skip's Kweok - 2

The game's first goal came in the second period when Cheri Sewell scored for Skip's, assisted by Mona Jones. Sewell picked up her second goal of the game just minutes later, as Jones and Laurie Laudadio each picked up an assist on the play. BDO fought back in the third period scoring two of their own. Goals were scored by Jennifer Greco and Kellie Carter. Trish Buller and Greco each picked up an assist.

Brookfield Power – 1 vs Ont. Concrete – 1

Both teams came out eager to play as each team scored a goal in the first period. Scoring for Brookfield was Lori Ballstadt, unassisted. Ont. Concrete's goal was scored by Gerri Miller, also unassisted.

Brookfield Power 0 vs. BDO Dunwoody 2

In the first game of the season, both teams were held off the scoreboard in the first period. It wasn't until 9:30 in the second period that BDO Dunwoody's Katie Healey registered the first goal of the game and was assisted by Donna Smith. BDO Dunwoody's second goal again came from Healey, unassisted with 15.5 seconds left in the game. Meredith Agliani picked the shutout for BDO Dunwoody.

Crawford's 1 vs. Country Way 1

In the second game, scoring happened in the first period as Karen Bell got her first goal of the season, assisted by Sue Sherrard for Crawford's. Country Way battled back in the second period scoring one of their own. Scoring came from Karen Jansa, assisted by Margie Skulech.

Ont. Concrete 1 vs. Lafarge 4

The second period was jammed full action, as Ont. Concrete got on the board first with a goal from Alicia Pollock, assisted by Debbie Beauchamp at 8:59. Lafarge answered back with one of their own at 10:11 by Lisa Rowlinson. Assists on the play went to Jen Blahey and Claudette Giboleau. Lafarge then went ahead at 5:40 with a goal from Jen Blahey, assisted Rhonda Crozier and Christine Robertson. Heading into the third up by one Lafarge added 2 more goals to complete the victory. Goals came from Suzanne Dunn and Blahey, while Rowlinson, and Giboleau also picked up assists.

Source For Sports 5 vs. Skip's Kweok 5

In another action packed game, scoring happened quickly in the first period, as Skip's Laurie Laudadio notched her first goal of the season. Assists on the play went to Julie Hodkinson and Lynn Mazzonello. Source for Sports tied it up near the end of the period when Stacy Boville got her first goal, which was assisted by Tianna Rutland and Toni Pyykonen. In the second period, Source jumped out to an early lead as Wanda Grife scored at 11:20. Debbie Shubat picked up the assist on the goal. Skip's came back with two goals at the end of the period. Scoring for Skip's were Cheri Sewell and Mazzonello. Assists went to Penny Souliere with two, Kelly Cudmore, and Laudadio. The third period, saw more excitement as the team traded goals. Skip's Mona Jones scored first, while Source's Kathy Berdux added one of her own. Shannon McLeod picked up the assist on the Berdux goal. The final goal came with 1:21 when Skip's Laudadio scored her second goal of the night, as Jones picked up the assist on the play.

B&J Trucking 1 vs. Sports Gold 3

In the final game of the night, Sports Gold's Marisa Pecile started the scoring at 12:23 in the first period, as Marg VanLendeghem and Shelley Slawson picked up assists on the goal. Scoring 2 minutes later for Sports Gold was Debbie Desgagne, assisted Adele Nanne and Lori Swan. B&J Trucking fought back in the second, as Joanne Pine got her first goal of the season, as Lynn Allard picked up an assist on the play. To add comfort to their lead Nanne scored for Sports Gold at the end of the period to keep them ahead. Picking up assists on the play were Desgagne and Jessica Lannigan.
