The following is a recap of action from week six in the local Women's Hockey League:

White Oak – 5 vs. Ont. Concrete – 6

Getting on the board first was Ont. Concrete, as Gerri Miller snapped one passed White Oak's Amanda Luther. Assisting on the goal was Erin Smylie. Ont. Concrete wasted no time in getting their second goal of the game as Debbie Beauchamp, scored just two minutes later, giving Smylie her second assist. White Oak's attack then took over, as Debbie Johnston was able to put 2 goals passed Cheri Taylor in the first period. Picking up assisting were Elaine Angelic, Judith Kovalo, and Tracey Maitland. However, Ont. Concrete was able to score another one before the period ran out. Scoring was Miller, assisted by Nicole Beauchamp and Amanda Fata. The next two periods was more of the same as the teams traded goals, with Ont. Concrete coming out on top. Scoring for White Oak was Angelic (2) and Johnston picking up the hat trick. Assists went to Doreen Shaw, Johnston, Angelic and Kovalo. Scoring for Ont. Concrete was N. Beauchamp (2), and D. Beauchamp. Picking up assists were Nancy Pedatella (2) and Tracie Bruce.

Skip's Kweok – 2 vs. Lafarge – 0

Both of Skip's goals came in the first period, as Julie Hodkinson was able to rifle the puck passed Nancy Dewling twice. Picking up assists were Mona Jones and Leslie Bois. Skip's win it puts them a point out of first place in the standings.

Source for Sports – 1 vs. Brookfield Power -1

In Source for Sports fourth tie of the season, Stacy Boville scored at 13:13 in the first period, unassisted. Brookfield was finally able to tie things up in the third period as Elena Palazzi snapped one passed pickup player Karen Armstrong. Picking up the assist was Shannon Jackson.

B&J Trucking – 2 vs. BDO Dunwoody – 7

Scoring for BDO was Katie Healey who picked up a hat trick, Jennifer Greco (2), and singles were scored by Kellie Carter and Elaine DeRosario. Picking up assists on BDO's goals were Sandra Pawson (2), Michelle Carter, Donna Smith, Trish Buller, Chrissy Wade and Kristie Kernaghen. Scoring for B&J was Joanne Pine and Nancy O'Donnell. Assists went Tricia Irvine and Pine.

Sports Gold – 2 vs. Country Way – 3

This game featured the early season leaders with Sports Gold in first place and Country Way in third. This loss marks Sports Gold first defeat of the season. Sports Gold was able to strike first, near the end of the second period. Marisa Pecile was finally able to solve Country Way's goaltender, Joy Agawa. Picking up the assist was Christianne Monico. However, Country Was took over in the third, with all three goals being scored. Scoring for Country Way was Karen Jansa, Patti Storozuk, and Andrea Garson. Picking up assists were Karen Gartshore (2), Jansa, Garson, Julie Hazelton, and Diane Peitrakowski. Sports Gold tried to make a come back, but ran out of time. Scoring for Sports Gold was Debbie Desgagne, unassisted.

Algoma Ins. – 2 vs. Crawford's – 1

Coming off their first victory last week, Crawford's liked the taste and was after more. Crawford's came out strong in the second; with Carrie Mancuso firing one passed Joey Montgomery. Picking up assist on the play was Shelli Ubriaco and Karen Bell. Algoma wasn't going to give up easy and fought hard to score with 20 seconds left in the period. Scoring was Robyn Bourck, unassisted. The third was more of the same, and just when it looked like the game was going to finish in a tie, Robyn Bourck was able to put a tricky one passed Melissa Holder, giving Algoma the win.

*** WEEK FIVE:

Source for Sports – 3 vs. White Oak Paint – 2

Starting things off early was Source for Sports, as Stacy Boville scored at 14:05 in the first period. White Oak picked up their first goal at 7:15 in the third period, when Debbie Johnston put one passed Source's Sherri Collins. Not to be out done, Source came back less than 4 minutes, when Wanda Grife snapped one passed Amanda Luther. Assisting on the goal was Karly Masters and Boville. The see-saw battle continued, as Linda Benedek scored for White Oak, unassisted. Finishing off the scoring was Boville, picking up her second of the night with 1:21 left to go in the game.

B&J Trucking – 2 vs. Crawford's – 4

Crawford's came out firing in the first period, when Carrie Mancuso scored at 12:30. Karen Bell picked up the first of four assists on the night. Crawford's continued their attack in the second period as the combination of Shelli Ubriaco and Bell hooked up twice, giving them a 3-0 lead going into the third period. At 9:31 in the third period, B&J Trucking's Joanne Pine was finally able to solve Melissa Holder and put one passed her. Sheree Wright picked up an assist on the play. To keep their 3 goal lead, Crawford's Mancuso and Bell combined for Crawford's fourth goal. Trying hard to even things up B&J was able to score with 1:50 left in the game. Scoring for B&J was Pine, unassisted.

BDO Dunwoody – 5 vs. Ont. Concrete – 2

Katie Healey scored an unassisted goal to get BDO on the board first. Ont. Concrete was able to tie things up before the period ended, when Nicole Beauchamp was able to put one passed Meredith Agliani. Debbie Beauchamp picked up an assist on the play. BDO's onslaught continued in the second period, scoring four times. Scoring for BDO was Kellie Carter (2), Kristie Kernaghen, and Jennifer Greco. Picking up assists were Greco (2), Healey and Elaine DeRosario. Ont. Concrete's second goal came from Debbie Beauchamp, assisted by Nicole Beauchamp.

Sports Gold – 7 vs. Lafarge – 0

Playing a big role in her team's success is goalie Teri Bonnell who picked up her second shutout of season on Sunday night. Scoring for Sports Gold was Debbie Desgagne (2), Adele Nanne (2), Lori Swan, Marisa Pecile, and Jessica Lannigan. Assists went to Amy Howser (2), Nanne (2), Desgagne, Swan and Lannigan.

Skip's Kweok – 6 vs. Algoma Ins. – 5

Skip's came out hard in the first, as Mona Jones scored, unassisted to get them on the board first. Just a couple of minutes later, Skip's struck again, as Julie Hodkinson scored an unassisted goal. Once again, Skip's struck quickly, as Leah-Anne Pine scored, giving them an early advantage. Picking up the assist on the play was Kelly Cudmore. Not to be outdone, Algoma came back with three of their own. Wendy Basawa scored twice, while Robyn Bourck picked up the single point. Assists went to Barb DeFelice, Debbie Bird-Thompson, Denise Goldade and Theresa Glover. The second period was more of the same, with skip's scoring two goals, and Algoma having to fighting back. Scoring for Skip's was Cheri Sewell (2), assisted by Pine and Cudmore. Algoma's goals came from Basawa, giving her a hat trick, and Goldade. Maryann Stott, Lisa Pauloff and DeFelice picked up the assists. Skip's scored the winning goal with 2:30 left in the game, as Jones picked up her second of the night and Pine picked the assist.

Thessalon – 3 vs. Brookfield Power – 3
