Week seven in the WHL saw some changes in the standings, as Sports Gold was knocked out of first place.

Thessalon – 4 vs. Ont. Concrete – 0

BDO Dunwoody – 3 vs. Algoma Ins. – 6

Algoma scored early in the first period setting the tone for the rest of the game. The combination of Wendy Basawa and Cathy Toni hooked up twice in the first period, with Basawa getting Algoma's first goal, with Toni getting the assist. On Algoma's second goal, the roles were reversed. Scoring Algoma's third goal of the period was Robyn Bourck, from Barb DeFelice. Algoma continued to apply pressure to BDO in the second as Bourck scored twice more capping off her hat trick and Basawa also picked up her second of the game. Picking up assists were DeFelice (2) and Maryann Stott. BDO was finally able to solve Algoma's goalie, Joey Montgomery, at 5:30 in the second period, when Jennifer Greco snapped one passed her. Greco was able to score twice more in the third period completing her hat trick. Assists went to Kristie Kernaghen (2), Michelle Carter, and Trish Buller.

Country Way – 2 vs. Source for Sports – 2

In a game that had a little of everything, both goalies were outstanding, making each team work for every goal. Striking first was Country Way, as Karen Jansa was able to bang one passed Source's Sherri Collins. Liisa McMillan picked up an assist on the play. Source's Stacy Boville came back with one of her own, firing the puck passed Joy Agawa, sending the teams tied going into the third period. The teams remained tied throughout the third period, until Source's Boville scored her second of the game, with just 3:07 left. With guts and determination, Country Way refused to give up, scoring with just 1:18 left in the game. McMillan tipped the puck passed Collins off a pass from Jansa to tie the game.

Ont. Concrete – 5 vs. Sports Gold – 3

Ont. Concrete's win, helped knock Sports Gold out of first place before the Christmas break. Scoring for Ont. Concrete was Debbie Beauchamp (3) and Nicole Beauchamp (2). Picking up assists were Nancy Pedatella (2), Erin Smylie, Alicia Pollock, and Trish Secondi. Scoring for Sports Gold was Marisa Pecile (2) and Sabrina Fischer. Amy Howser picked up the lone assist.

Brookfield Power – 0 vs. Crawford's Canines – 0

Brookfield's goalie, Lorie Springall and Crawford's goalie Melissa Holder were at their best on Sunday, not allowing a goal and making some outstanding saves keeping their teams in the game.

Skip's Kweok – 3 vs. White Oak Paint – 0

With Sports Gold's loss and Skip's win, Skip's took over sole possession on first place going into the Christmas break. Scoring for Skip's was Mona Jones (2) and Leah-Anne Pine. Picking up an assist was Kelly Cudmore.

Lafarge – 0 vs. B&J Trucking – 1

This was B&J's first win of season and in doing so, relinquishing the title of Cellar-Dwellers, passing it on to Lafarge. Scoring for B&J was Sheree Wright, from Chantal Anderson.

*** WEEK 8:

Ont. Concrete – 2 vs. B&J Trucking – 6

After their first win of the season last week, B&J decided to follow that up with another win. B&J came out hard in the first period and never looked back. Scoring for B&J in the first period was Joanne Pine (2), and Chantal Anderson. Julie Laroque picked up 2 assists. B&J continued their attack in the second and third periods. Both Pine and Anderson had a hat trick. Anderson and Natalie Barry also picked up assists. Ont. Concrete was held off the scoreboard until the third period, when Debbie Beauchamp scored twice and Alicia Pollock picked up the lone assist.

White Oak Paint – 0 vs. Brookfield Power – 6

Scoring for Brookfield was Sue Chiblow (3), Sharon Templeton, Cindy Sierzputkowski, and Lori Ballstadt. Assists went to Ballstadt (2), Templeton, Chiblow, Cynthia Zalewski, and Jennifer Mortimore. As a result of the loss, White Oak now has the privilege of having the Cellar-dwellers title.

Lafarge – 3 vs. BDO Dunwoody – 2

Lafarge's win got them out of last place. Scoring for Lafarge was Jenn Blahey (3). Picking up assists were Rhonda Crozier (2), Christine Robertson, Lisa Turco and Lisa Rowlinson. Scoring for BDO was Jennifer Greco and pick up player Sue Chiblow. Pick up player Cynthia Zalewski picked up the only assist.
