In action from week 10 in the Women's Hockey League:

Thessalon – 0 vs. Sports Gold – 1

Scoring for Sports Gold at 5:55 in the first period was Debbie Desgagne, assisted by Sabrina Fischer.

Country Way – 4 vs. Lafarge – 1

Country Way finished the first period with a flurry of goals, scoring three times in the last five minutes. Scoring for Country Way was Karen Gartshore, Brenda Sayers, and Andrea Garson. Picking up assists were Karen Jansa and Liisa McMillan. Lafarge tried to rally back in the second period, as Heidi Frech was able to put one passed Country Way's Joy Agawa. Lafarge just couldn't stop the power of Country Way, as they scored once more. Picking up the goal was Diane Peitrakowski, assisted by Julie Hazleton.

Crawford's Canines – 1 vs. Ont. Concrete – 2

At 6:30 of the first period Ont. Concrete struck first, as Debbie Beauchamp snapped one passed Melissa Holder. Assisting on the goal was Nancy Pedatella. Both teams were held off the scoreboard in the second period. With just 3:20 left in the game Crawford's was able to tie things up, when Carrie Mancuso rifled one passed Cheri Taylor. Not to be out done, Ont. Concrete scored just 20 seconds later to give them the victory. Scoring for Ont. Concrete was Gerri Miller, unassisted.

White Oak Paint – 2 vs. B&J Trucking – 3

White Oak Paint was able to strike first giving them the early lead. Scoring was Sarah Fischer from Tracey Maitland and Judith Kovalo. B&J was able to tie things up in the second period as Joanne Pine, scored with just 17 seconds remaining. White Oak struck first again in the third, as Fischer picked up her second goal of the game. Assisting on the goal was Maitland and Tammy Vice. B&J was able to tie it again with less than 5 minutes remaining. Scoring for B&J was Chantal Anderson, assist going to Pine. B&J was then able to take the lead with just 30 seconds left in the game. Scoring for B&J was Pine picking up her second of the game, assisted by Anderson and Sheree Wright.

Algoma Ins. – 6 vs. Source for Sports – 0

In this one sided affair, Algoma was just to much for Source who battled hard from beginning to end, but just wasn't able to solve Algoma's goaltender, Joey Montgomery giving her the shut out. Scoring for Algoma was Wendy Basawa (3), Robyn Bourck (2) and Denise Goldade. Picking up assists were Theresa Glover (2) and Sandra McLennan.

Lafarge – 1 vs. Brookfield Power – 3

Looking for a win, Brookfield Power came out energized in the first period scoring twice to them ahead. Scoring for Brookfield was Sue Chiblow, unassisted and Lori Ballastadt from Cindy Sierzputkowski. Bringing their energy into the second period Brookfield scored again putting them 3-0 going into the third period. Scoring for Brookfield was Jennifer Mortimore, assisted by Sharon Templeton. Trying to fight back, Lafarge's Jennifer Blahey was finally able to solve Brookfield's goalie, Lorie Springall, bringing Lafarge within 2, but that's as close as they would come.

Country Way – 1 vs. BDO Dunwoody - 3

In a match up of two of the top teams in the league, BDO was able to hand Country Way their first loss of the season, putting them into first place for the time being. Scoring for Country Way was Karen Gartshore, assisted by Jenny Sayers. Scoring for BDO was Jennifer Greco (2) and Chrissy Wade. Picking up assists were Greco and Trish Buller.

As the weeks continue the standings are starting to tighten up as some teams are beginning to hit their stride, while others are beginning to falter.
