************************* Canada: Who is Hockey Mom of the Year? MasterCard Canada and Bobby Orr to crown Hockey Mom of the Year at the 2007 MasterCard Memorial Cup in Vancouver

TORONTO - Chauffeuring rowdy hockey players to scores of games each year; driving thousands of kilometers to and from the rink; and logging just as many hours in the stands to cheer your child on.

If this routine sounds at all familiar, you'll recognize this unsung hero - the Canadian hockey mom.

Today, MasterCard Canada announced the search for the hockey mom of the year - a national contest open to all Canadian moms.

"For years, hockey moms have sacrificed their weekends, logged the hours and supported the players - and all without recognition," said Tammy Scott, vice president, brand marketing, MasterCard Canada.

"MasterCard is urging all Canadians to lace up their skates, and submit their nominations for best Hockey Mom of the Year."

To nominate a mom worthy of the title Hockey Mom of the Year, visit the contest website between April 9 and 11:59 PM EST on April 30, 2007, and in 250 words or less, tell us why the selected mom should be Hockey Mom of the Year.

Three finalists will be chosen and along with their families (up to four members), will be flown to Vancouver to attend the 2007 MasterCard Memorial Cup.

The grand prize winner will be recognized during an on-ice presentation by MasterCard Canada and hockey legend Bobby Orr at the final game.

"For as long as hockey has been Canada's pastime, hockey moms from across the country have been as dedicated to their players as Canada has been to the game," said Bobby Orr. "My mom was a part of every goal I scored and I count her as part of my winning team."

The MasterCard Search for Hockey Mom of the Year

The top submissions will then be reviewed by a panel of judges who will select one finalist from each region.

The judging panel includes: David Branch, president of the Canadian Hockey League (CHL); Linda Staal, long time hockey parent and mother to hockey greats Eric, Jordan, Marc and Jared Staal; and Bobby Orr.

Criteria selection will be based on: creativity, originality and written submission.

The nominated nom must be a resident of Canada over the age of majority in their province/territory of residence.

No purchase necessary to participate in this contest. Void where prohibited.
