Borden Bell has been named Algoma University's Co-op Student of the Year for 2022.

A placement at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has been successful in more ways than one for an Algoma University student.

Third-year student Borden Bell, a bachelor of business administration student, has been named Algoma's 2022 Co-op Student of the Year.

Bell is currently finishing his third co-op work term placement at OLG locally.

"Borden has proven to be a knowledgeable, reliable, and flexible member of the Digital Business Analysis team," said Ross O'Neill, OLG’s senior manager of Digital Business Analysis. "His personable attitude and eagerness to learn OLG’s business have made him someone that is relied upon both inside and outside of our team."

Bell has worked with OLG's Digital Business Analysis team and his work has included supported the gathering of business requirements for new products and initiatives on both web and mobile platforms while also involved in product testing by ensuring that acceptance criteria is understood and that test scenarios are built accordingly. Bell also worked with other teams at OLG to support user acceptance testing and defect remediation.

“I chose to do co-op as it seemed like a good opportunity to get real-world work experience while I was still in school," Bell said. "My co-op work terms at OLG have allowed me to apply what I have learned in the classroom in a professional setting and has given me new perspectives on best management and organizational practices that I can bring back to the classroom.”
